FALL 2010. SWEET POTATO. 11.05.10

We are always looking for ways to make mealtimes more about fun and less about power struggles. If you are wondering about the last picture on the right under “my favorites,” this is our latest discovery. What you are looking at is the cute – not to mention ingenious – new plate designed to help small children better understand healthy portion control. The nutri-plate was designed by two Chicago moms interested in delivering healthy messages to children and families about food. We’ve had fun identifying the letters and pictures on the plate, too (hint: they appear most clearly when the food is gone!).┬áIf you’d like to see what the plate says without dinner on it, click here.

I’ve enjoyed your comments. Keep them coming! I’d also love to hear your ideas. What do you want to see here? What has worked well for your family and your lifestyle? Are you getting really tired of chickpeas? Clearly, I am not. But don’t worry. I’m testing out new things all the time in hopes of bringing you winning ideas and recipes so the guesswork is gone. Enjoy this week of sweet potato and stay warm.
